REX AWARD WINNER!
Congratulations to BIAWC member Jacquie Scott, president and lead designer for Legacy Kitchen & Bath, for winning the "Residential Kitchen Over $125,000” award! Awards were announced at a 2011 BIAW Excellence in Remodeling Awards reception on June 15 at Semiahmoo, with multiple competitors in several categories. Jacquie’s project involved a team consisting of an interior designer, contractor and multiple subs to complete this beautiful north county home.  The kitchen remodel included opening up two individual rooms creating one open room concept with the kitchen and great room being one continuous space.  The homeowners had a definite concept in mind for their home and the kitchen was the main focus.  The cabinetry included cherry stained and glazed in two different stain colors. The custom hood & other areas in the kitchen included hand carved cherry onlays, posts and trim details. The great room concept included a media center for the homeowners’ new home entertainment system & collection of artifacts from their travels.

GATEWAY PACIFIC TERMINAL PRESENTATION
11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at BIAWC
Note date change!
Craig Cole, consultant for the Gateway Pacific project, has asked to make a presentation to BIAWC at a brown bag (bring your own lunch) session open to all BIAWC members.
.
This originally was announced for July 6, but has been rescheduled in an attempt to involve more members. We’ll pick up the subject at the first regular Government Affair Committee date in September, and be able to address new issues and questions. Bring your questions and concerns.  Guests are welcome.

SSA Marine says of its project: The Gateway Pacific Terminal is one of the most economically significant opportunities to enter Whatcom County in a century. The $500 million to $700 million project will create thousands of local jobs and millions in state and local tax revenues. On top of this, SSA Marine is committed to maintaining high environmental standards and will undergo a stringent environmental review over the next two years. There’s a lot of misinformation and rumors swirling around about the terminal, and we want to ensure that our community has the facts straight.
