Benefits and Services

Whoever said money can’t make you happy isn’t in BIAW’s Return on Industrial Insurance program! Last year alone, R.O.I.I. member companies received more than $24 million in refunds. That’s three times more money than any other Retro group in the State!

The average R.O.I.I. member pays the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) about $26,000 per year in industrial insurance premiums. Participants in BIAW’s R.O.I.I. program have historically received refunds averaging 25% - that’s $6,500 back into their pockets!
R.O.I.I. member companies get a refund because strict underwriting criteria means only companies with good safety practices are invited to participate.

You can either pay money into the Dept. of Labor & Industries (L&I) and get nothing, or you can pay in and earn some of it back. It’s really that simple. Don’t miss another year of potential refunds. To find out if you qualify, contact the Building Industry Association of Washington at 1-800-228-4229, or download a release form and send it in to find out if you qualify for the program.
The BIAW Health Insurance Program is a non-profit, multiple employer benefit program for members of local building associations throughout the Pacific Northwest. The program is sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) and is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by BIAW.

Building and construction industry related companies that are members of the BIAW and their local association are eligible to apply for coverage.* Over 1,000 companies with almost 20,000 individuals are covered under various BIAW benefit plans. The BIAW Program is one of the largest multiple employer health care purchasing alliances in the Northwest.

By consolidating the large group purchasing power from over 1,000 industry employers, the BIAW program offers employers substantial rate savings. For a proposal, contact the BIAW Trust Consultants at 1-800-545-7011, extension 6, or download a quote request form.
* Please note that insurance carriers will not allow non-building industry employers into the BIAW program.

The Governmental Affairs Committee is our most important on-going activity, working for responsible legislation and fighting against rules and laws that unreasonably increase the price of building products for our community and make it more difficult to survive and prosper in business.

BIAWC strives to be a positive partner and influence in Whatcom County, and continuously seeks new ways to improve the quality of life within our community.
Educational Tools:
Through our affiliation with BIAW (Building Industry Association of Washington) and NAHB (National Association of Home Builders), the BIAWC offers its members frequent training meetings and workshops about safety, business management, construction management, new technology, regulatory updates, employee relations, lien law and construction contracts, among others.
Financial Benefits:
BIAWC is committed to making our members' companies more competitive in the marketplace, whether by cost-saving construction practices or by actual money-saving insurance programs like the Return on Industrial Insurance and BIAW Health Insurance programs.
