Governmental Affairs Committee
Governmental Affairs Committee shall monitor proposed new legislation and revisions to legislation affecting our industry and the membership, keep the membership informed on legislative and political issues and organize an effective membership lobbying effort to support BIAWC interests.
The BIAWC Government Affairs Committee provides government affairs advocacy outreach by monitoring local government, planning commissions, city and county council, as well as coordinating with BIAW—the State Association and NAHB—your National Association on business and housing related issues. BIAWC is the voice of the construction industry and advances a pro-housing free-market affordable housing agenda and works to defeat harmful measures to the housing and business industry.
The BIAWC Government Affairs Committee meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The 2010 Government Affairs Committee has approximately 20 members including the committee co-leadership of Steve Moore of Moore and Company and Darcy Jones of Jones Engineers, Inc., P.S. Committee members and BIAWC staff monitor city and county issues relative to land use, affordable housing and business practices. For more information regarding the BIAWC Government Affairs Committee, contact BIAWC Executive and Government Affairs liaison Lance Clark at 671-4247 or lancec@biawc.com.
